Well it appears that a couple days before our Southwest airplane touches down in Belize City, there is a possibility that many will be talking how Hurricane Earl blew and blew and dropped lots of water. As it sits right now (in the comfort of my Tonganoxie living room) there is a mean brew over the Caribbean soaking up all that warm (and beautiful) water with sights set on the same destination as Amy and I.
Red, White or Yellow will mean lots of water where we are going |
Stop saying your name is Invest 97-L |
The monolithic dome that is under construction as I peck is the fruit of a man and wife who so very much want to help Belizians have access to low cost, hurricane proof housing. In order to do that, one has to be built so people can see, and maybe want one. The location of this dome is really in a good spot and I think will get lots of traffic once completed. The five domes that have already been built are on the other side of the ferry that just doesn't get much exposure, very quiet villages, and I suppose they want to keep it that way.
My heart goes out to the new home owner who came from Canada to have his dome built. He is having to find a way to deal with the frustration of yet another delay. He can't do anything about the effects of Invest 97-L nor can he do anything about changing the calendar that says it's time to go home in 13 days. I've never met this man that is renting my airform to build his dome away from home that says "Ha-Ha is that all you got?" to 97-L, Earl, or even Katrina. I look forward to looking this man in the eye Tuesday, shaking his hand, and committing my time and effort however I can to help.
Romans 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." We, the believers in The Lord Jesus Christ whom this passage is referring to is reassured with a big ole honkin chill pill. Yes, the born again believer in times of distress has no idea why things happen the way they do. Three words into this passage removes all doubt...AND WE KNOW. It doesn't say and we think, or and we hope...it says and we know. Gosh, even in the wake of a potential hurricane, we know that God is on the throne well in control and this thing will work out. So if I took this passage and rewrote it to my life today, it would read something like this "Amy and I know that this will be ok, we know that the creator of the universe cares for us and will use us however He sees fit for the 33 days we are in Belize".
